Borax has been used for over a century, and it is actually a naturally-occurring mineral, produced by the seasonal evaporation of salt lakes. It is a composition of water, oxygen, boron, and sodium.
With a pH of 9.3, it is highly alkaline and has strong deodorizing, cleaning, disinfecting, and freshening qualities. It softens the water when added and gains a more neutral pH level of about 8.

1. Neutralize Odors
Add half a cup of borax to 1 ½ cups of warm water in a spray bottle, add a few drops of some essential oil, and spray all over the home to neutralize bad odors.
2. Treat Boron Deficiencies in the Garden
To stimulate the blooming of your plants and boost their growth, you need to satisfy their needs for boron.
All you need to do is to mix 5 tablespoons of borax with 5 gallons of water and a few drops of dish soap and spray their leaves and stems.
3. Remove Clothing Stains
Add half a cup of borax to a gallon of warm water and soak it for half an hour before adding laundry detergent, and running the wash through. This will clean oil, grease and protein stains from your linens and clothes.
4. Kill Weeds
In a weed sprayer, add 1 ¼ cups of borax and 2 ½ gallons of water, and spray only the foliage to destroy weeds.
5. Eliminate Black Mold and Mildew
Mix a cup of borax and a gallon of water and pray on the areas affected by mildew and black mold.
